Techie PBX. Your phone system, your server.

A complete business phone system, without the bloat. Everything you use, nothing you don't.

Meet Techie PBX

Techie PBX is our own phone system, built and lab-verified by us. It runs on your Debian server and manages Asterisk, the same engine behind enterprise phone systems, with a clean web interface that shows you only what matters. Most hosted VoIP services charge per seat, per month, forever. Techie PBX is yours: one box, one trunk, and your calls cost what your provider charges - nothing more.

It is a deliberately small alternative to FreePBX. Every feature on this page is built, tested and verified - not a roadmap.

What it does

Extensions & calling

  • Extensions with live registration status - see which phones are online, right now.
  • Per-extension caller ID: a user with a direct number calls out as that number.
  • Call forwarding: ring your desk phone and mobile together, from one field.
  • Ring groups: ring everyone at once, or hunt one person at a time until someone answers.
  • Call parking: park a call, hear the slot spoken back, pick it up from any phone - with a lit lamp on your desk phone keys while it waits.
  • Music on hold: as many classes as you like, ships with royalty-free tracks, wideband audio included.

Voicemail

  • Voicemail box per extension, check it from any phone with *97.
  • Voicemail to email with the recording attached as an MP3.
  • Transcription built in: the text of the message arrives in the same email - transcribed on your own server, no third-party service, nothing leaves the box.
  • Attach-and-delete mode: email it and clear the box automatically.

Call routing

  • Auto-attendant IVRs: "press 1 for sales, 2 for support", any key to any destination.
  • Business hours: open hours, closed hours and holidays, each with its own destination - holidays repeat every year automatically.
  • Day/night mode: the "secretary is leaving early" button - flip to night routing from a key on your desk phone, with a lamp that shows its state.
  • Announcements: upload or record in your browser, use them as IVR greetings or standalone messages.
  • Inbound routes: each of your numbers rings wherever you want.
  • Outbound routes with international dialing locked down by default - toll fraud protection out of the box.

Phones that set themselves up

  • Zero-touch provisioning for Polycom and Yealink desk phones - plug a phone into the network and it configures itself.
  • A new phone asks for its config and adds itself; you just name it and give it an extension.
  • Line keys, lamps and speed dials assigned per phone from the web - watch another extension ring, pick up parked calls with a button.
  • Your company background and logo on every phone screen, pushed automatically.
  • Reboot a phone from the admin page - works through NAT, no walking the office.

Any SIP provider

  • Bring your own trunk: a wizard for Callcentric, or point it at any SIP provider.
  • Live trunk registration status - know your provider is connected before your customers do.
  • Keep your existing numbers with SIP trunking from your local provider for maximum uptime.

Reports & visibility

  • Call history: every call, answered or missed, from a real phone system.
  • Filter by date, extension and direction; totals per extension and per trunk.
  • CSV export for your accountant - or anyone else who asks.
  • A status page with calls in progress and a "needs attention" list, plus the system's own logs.

Take your calls anywhere

Every user gets a phone in the browser: sign in with your work account (Microsoft Entra ID) and the page becomes your extension - dial, answer, hold and transfer, with your voicemail and unread-message count one click away. It rings alongside the desk phone and connects instantly from home or the office. No app to install.

Secure by design

The admin interface is behind Microsoft Entra ID sign-in - the same protection your email already has. The system runs hardened, with no services exposed that don't need to be, and your voicemail, recordings and call data never leave your server.

Ask us for a live demo - we run Techie PBX ourselves and can show you every feature on this page on real desk phones.
